Any ideas on digital clock in radio cassette player 200 1988

Any ideas would help... I follow the instructions to set the digital clock in the radio cassette player but when it says to 'turn the radio tuning knob' to set the hour and then to do the same to set the minutes nothing happens. It is as if the tuning knob (yes, it works fine for the radio) is disconnected from the clock's circuit. The clock says on 12:00 and nuttin ain't budging it. Can anyone help, please?

Clock 200 1988

I'm guessing you have a CR 712. I have not set mine for awhile because I have a dash clock. There is a switch on the bottom of the unit that disables the clock. In cars that had dash clocks the radio clock is disabled. You have to take the radio out to change this setting.
Assuming your clock is enabled:
Press the memory button (m)
Then press the clock button: The hour should be displayed
Use the up/down tuning buttons to set the hour
Then press the clock button: the minutes should be displayed
Use the up/down tuning buttons to set the minutes
Then press the clock button: the time should be set

The owners manual for the Volvo stereo cassette radio says it is for CR-4221 and CR-4220. I've followed the procedures listed in the manual but no luck. I think you might be right about the switch, Jessie. Thanks for the ideas, Jessie and Kane.

You don't say what make/model of the radio ... without knowing, this is all I can suggest. Some need to be done while the power is off. Others need it done when the clock, memory, or mode button is held down.
