I heard that you can swap all 240 front seats with any other year. Is that true? If not, what will fit what? Thanks for your help!

Obviously left/right are different, because of the lumber adjustment knob.
But the base frames will swap over if you bend one of the lugs. That way you can have height adjustment on the passenger seat too.

Also the depth front to back of some years varies by up to an inch. You notice this when folding the back seats down.

As stated below, 240 seats are all interchangeable, but keep in mind the 242 seats are different.

With that in mind, stay away from the '77 seats. They are terrible. They are filled with some kind of straw crap that pokes you in the ass... Terrible design...

The seats in my '76 are okay... not as good as some of the later model seats I've seen in the Junk yard.

The seats in my '80... well, they've seen 431K miles, and they show it. Other then that, they seem good enough...

Essentially true, with some exceptions.

You can't use seats from a 240 in a 262C.

If you have a 2-door, you need 2-door seats. Sedan and wagon seats won't flip forward, rendering the rear seats useless.

Other than that, you could put seats from a '75 244DL into a '93 Classic or vice versa.

I found a rally good set of the no tilt seats in a 4 door.
So I took the seat hinges from my 80 242 seats and put them on the new seats.
Also had to "Hone" out and mount the tilt release lever on the new seats.
If I recall right the new ones were from a 87 244.
If you have a 242 its about the only viable option now since the 242 was last made 20 years ago, heck even the 4 doors are gettin on in age now.
