There is a sweet '79 245(201k) that has been sitting in an undisclosed location for a couple years, light green southern car(no rust)and is in very good condition.I can get it for $250,he wouldn't take $200.
It has frozen brake calipers and the engine hasn't been started in over a year but the interior is a 9 on a scale of 1-10.the door pocket and brake console are even intact.I was gonna part it out on ebay but I think it is worth fixing.
What would you guys do?

DO IT!!! DO IT!!! The K-Jet system will be a bit rough but you can get it going. This is the one we all have been waiting for. Do it for yourself, do it for the 245, do it for the love!!! Take Care!!!

Sincerely,

hi phil the only drawback i can see is the c.i. system sitting for two years could make things interesting. but this seems like a go. good luck

the engine compartment looks pretty clean and dry.I haven't had a CIS system yet but there is always the brickboard.
I was planning on taking out the spark plugs and putting some marvel mystery oil into the cylinders, letting that sit for a bit, draining the gas and oil and refilling with fresh stuff, changing the plugs and of course a freshly charged battery.Anything else you would do before trying to start it?

hi phil i guess it cant hurt. i dont know a lot about c.i. but my friend does. and he says the worst thing for this systems is to sit. we know what happens to gas when that happens. i have smelled some cars that sat for a long period and there is a overwhelming smell of varnish. when i recently bought my turbo he was hoping the car did not sit for long. what ever happens it should be fun.

No rust keep it, don't part out a good car, there has to be plenty of rusted cars up in Maine. I wish I could say the same for my 85 245 Florida born and raised! Dan

Heck yeah. I would, definitely. $250 is irresistable, unless the vehicle in question is a Cavalier or Escort.. And it's got two qualities my $200 '78 244 doesn't- "no rust", and "wagon"...

"Undisclosed location", indeed- is the seller named Dick Cheney?

You need convincing?

You know it's your Volvo duty! Or else it'll likely end up in the crusher; one less 240 on the road.

Even if you tell yourself you can fix it up and sell it, till it grows on you and you have to keep it!

At $250 how wrong could it be?

Hey Phil,

That's a no brainer. Brakes, engines, and whatever else mechanically can always be fixed.

A rust free body is irreplaceable.

Sure, go for it,
Dump the Snaab first, of course: it's not a 3 cylinder.

Go for it Phil. This way you can gain valuable experience in CI injection systems. If you don't like it, sell the "vintage parts". Just remember, fix the vacuum leaks and keep the fuel pressure up and all is OK.
