Need help installing Drawtight trailer hitch on a 245 200

Howdy,

I aquired a Drawtite trailer hitch from a 240 sedan. I'm trying to install it on our 1989 245 wagon. Near where it bolts up there is a piece
of metal (maybe for a tow hook?)with a cut out circle. It's in the way of the bolt holes for the hitch. What's one to do? Also, I'm assuming that I need to just cut the plastic piece that runs the length of the bumper to fit the hitch?

THANKS A MILLION,
Garge

Have Draw-Tite instruction sheet if you need it 200

I've got a scan of an instruction sheet that came with my 240 Draw-Tite hitch (purchased in 2001). Email me if you'd like a copy and let me know what format you'd like it in.

Regards,

Mike

Remove anything that's in the way and keep it. You may want to remove the hitch later (eg: selling the car) and replace the trim and tow hook to keep the car from looking butchered.

Remove the hook it should bolt right up to the frame. I had to remove a metal panel that runs below the bumper. You may be able to cut this piece to fit the hitch and reinstall it but I never did. Good luck Dan

Yup, it bolts right on. On my 88245 I had a plastic lower panel that I had to cut after everthing was in place. You don't need it, so you might just save it to keep from butchering it. (I used a sabre saw for the surgery).
