240 heater core replacement 200

yes I did a search. Note the subject line, When I get answers to my questions, the next shlub will be able to get to the posts and an answer without being subjected to this things' search engine, gad. Sorry to complain.

At any rate I am looking at a possible heater core replacement job on somebody else's car. How is it done on a 240? If you could lead me to a post that I'm just not finding I'd appreciate it.

I heard that there is a way to r & r the heater corewith most everything left in but you have to cut a hole in the side of the heater case to extract the old core.

I think that is the Don Foster method.

For as much time and effort as it takes to replace a heater core, Maybe you should convince your friend to invest in a replacement 240.

Unless the car is in very very good shape body wise, I wouldn't do it. If the car is a rust bucket, don't waste your time.

If you thought a heater blower motor replacement was a nightmare, you ain't seen nothing yet!

Good link if you are replacing a blower motor.

The heater core, however, is much much more involved.

You are correct, sir. Not even close. Just disintegrate your dash and snatch the heater box off the evap-- depending on year for A/C...

    Hello,

Don't get me wrong, but if it's not your brick with a leaky heater core, I sure as s&*t wouldn't volunteer to do that again. The whole dash has to come off. I mean all of it. If the car has A/C, it has to be drained. Then you have to split the heater control unit and then put in a replacement. I would also suggest a new blower motor while you are in there.

Did I say how much of a PITA that job is???
