Good Wheels 700

Hi all, finally got to getting my snows off last Friday and when they were spinning things up for balance it was noticed that I have two very bent rims. They balanced out OK but of course now I am noticing a cyclic shimmy, a sure sign of squaring tires.... so I am in the market for new rims. I have found some real beaut OEMs, but they are going for $200+ each.
What aftermarket rims has anyone had good experience with, as far as looks, quality, proper offset etc.? I'm not looking to spend a fortune. Current rims are Dracos (87 745T); I will probably stay with 15".
Any advice greatly appreciated, thanks.

    Found 'em! 700

Found a set of 4 Dracos on ebay, thanks for the heads up all; I had been checking there but I realized you really gotta watch, stuff goes quick...
Seller was nice enough to made a deal for 2 of them, so if anyone needs the others I'm sure they will be up for grabs, price is reasonable on some pretty good looking rims.
    Again, thanks all who responded.

One BIG advantage to buying Volvo OEM wheels is that you can always get a replacement wheel.

A couple of years ago, I tried to find a set of wheels for an 850 and spent some time talking to a shop in California that sells powder coated wheels - they offer most alloy styles in 250 powder coat colors - they were too expensive though.

I was told that many aftermarket wheel styles are made for two years, then extra stock is sold. Good luck if you need an extra wheel after that!

I learned this first hand when I bought some special wheel covers - anyone have a use for three wheel covers?

Good Wheels (check salvage yards) 700

I frequently check the salvage yards for Volvos. My '87 245 is wearing a set of 15" Omegas that came off a 760 Turbo. The cost was $130 for 4-rims and the tires on them (still lots of good tread).

If you're looking for strong 15" rims, you'll probably find that the Rigels and the Omegas are the strongest. It's unfortunate that the Virgos and the Dracos are the easiest to bend (they look cool, but bend easily). Also, if a set of Turbo-mesh (multi-X) 15" wheels passed my way, I'd snap them up. -click on my profile picture at the top of this post. My 780 is wearing a set of Turbo-mesh (multi-X) wheels.

For those who are unfamiliar with the wheel names, visit http://brickparts.d--r.com/wheels/ for pictures of them. The Rigels are not pictured, but they came standard on a lot of mid-late '80s 740 GLE vehicles, are 15" and have the large stainless steel "pie-plate" center caps (very similar to Dersus type pie-plate).

    God bless,
    Fitz Fitzgerald.

Try e-bay for used OEM rims. I did that with a BMW with good results. Look for a seller with a record selling rims. If it's a first time seller or one that usually sells non-automotive stuff I'd be VERY leery.

There's a place in Medina, OH that ships nationwide called Motomotion: (330) 725-2300. They do an excellent job reconditioning rims. They charge about $150 - $170 each, and what you get back is essentially a new wheel. They even stock some common rims. They might have OEM 15s as shown in your pic. I've seen turnaround from them in as little as 5 days.
