240 Series Rim Choices......and Tire Tech 200

Guys

I have been thinking about changing the rims in my 240 to something better looking/performance related than the stock 14". I used tirerack.com and they have only 3 choices of tires. Has anyone managed to fit any other brand of rims with or without spacers?

What tire size would would recomment for soon to be V8 240. I beleive a 16" tire will be fine but the question is...how wide can I go.

Any recommendations?

Thanks

Look to the 740 and 940 series for some interesting wheel choices.
A lot of people like the 1990 740T (and 91-94 940T) 16" wheel called the Hydra. It takes a 205/55R16 as standard fitment.
Reportedly depending on wheel choice, some 215 or 225 tires will fit. Any speedometer error incurred is yours to keep, free.
Note that 240s will run into tire clearance problems in the inside walls of the trunk or cargo area rubbing the inner sidewall of the rear tires. Fronts are only limited by not rubbing on the strut tubes.
I have driven a 240 with 225/50-15s on it and they scuffed here and there a bit.
All the Volvo wheel sizes are 15X6 in the 15" series, normally take a 195/60-15 for summer or all season tires. Winter tires fit the same wheels with a 185/65-15.

Rob, didn't the 780 get some wheels that were 15x7? That was the exception, and it's what makes them very desireable. They look like regular mesh style wheels.
