throttle question 200 1987

there are 2 small hoses that come out of the top left side of the throttle and I am wondering what their purpose is. The one that is the closest to the front of my car comes off becasue the connecting end is split. What is the reason for this hose and is it going to affect preformance. I think it has been disconnected for some time now. if I need to replace it, where can I get a new one? and could I just put a small hose clamp around the split one and have the same results?

Usually if the connection is split, you can clip the last half inch or so off of the hose and reconnect it. That will last a good while until you have time to replace the hose.

Follow the hose. Offhand I can't remember where the front one goes, but it either goes to the charcoal canister behind the bumper in front of the driver's side wheel well, or it goes to the ignition control unit. If it's the canister it's not a huge deal, but if it goes to the ICU you definitely need to fix it immediately.

They go to the charcoal canister, which, in theory, filters fumes. They don't really affect much of anything as far as driveability goes. You can clamp it, replace it, whatever you like.
