While taking a leasurely summer drive last night my "check engine" light came on in my 1995 960.
I pressed the gas and it sounded like I was running on 3 cylinders. There wasn't any warning or ill behavior up to this point.
Checked out the message board and it looks like this code has to do with half of my fuel injectors. (the other three would have had code 1-1-3).
I've checked the voltage this morning to all the injectors and have 12 volts on one of the wires when the key is in the "on" on position. Cleaned all the contacts on the injectors and relays with de-ox.
Cleared the code and started the car. Everything seems okay....now I'm really worried. Is this going to happen again? Like when I'm out of town?
If it is an intermitten ground fault, which I think is the case after doing a search on this site, is there a way to fix it while I'm on the road? In other words, if I start jiggling wires will the other three cyclinder come back?
There is only one "fuel relay" and only one "ingnition relay" on this '95 960. Does that mean that the problem isn't with the relay since it controls all of the injectors, not just 3 of them?
From previous posts it looks like some have had this problem before. They mention a re-solder job on the wiring harness under the intake manifold. However, no one ever said that it worked. What is there to re-solder under the intake manifold, anyway?
