warm start problem 200 1983

I have a very odd warm start problem. When the engine is cold or within 5 min of turning off, it starts on the first crank. however more than 5 min to 1hr. the dang thing is near imposible to start. i have fixed all kinds of problems and once running, it feels factory fresh.but it has always had this problem and i cant put my finger on it. it is realy starting to make me mad. any help would be nice.
thanks:)

Suz240Dl is on the right track. The K-Jets have a fuel accumulator to keep the fuel line pressure up so the fuel does not vaporize in the line while the engine is hot. On the LH-Jet cars I believe they have a fuel line check valve that does the same job the fuel accumulator did. The check valve hides in the fuel line leading in to the fuel pump from the tank. When working properly it keeps the fuel pressure up making warm starts easy for you and the engine. Next time you shut her down try jumping the fuel pump fuses in the fuse box to run the fuel pumps for about 5-10 seconds. That will repressurize the fuel line and if the car starts up great then you know you are losing the fuel pressure after shut down (Defective Check Valve). Good Luck!

Sincerely,

I had the same problem with my 81. I changed the fuel accumulator and it starts every time now. Bob

On my car, it's right next to the main fuel pump under the car. Bob

I believe there is no fuel accumulator with the LH cars; the fuel filter replaces the accumulator.

I had a similar warm hard start problem: I had the wrong battery. Also, make all the grounds are clean and tight.
