Rear Springs Change- Success 200 1985

My IPD 20% overload sedan springs came today and I decided to put them on. Pulled the car in at 5:15 and pulled it out at 7:15. 2 hours and only 12 nuts and it has new springs. Each side came up 1.25 inches and the ride quality is in fact more like a pogo stick, but not that bad. The springs definitely get progressively more stout, which helps the ride a little.
Didn't even remove the shocks.

Rear Springs Change- Success 200 1985

I installed a pair of rear springs from an '85 donor wagon and put them on my '86 sedan earlier this year and got the exact same effect, for only $20 for the pair. It took me about a month to get used to the stiffness esp going over railroad tracks, etc. But it's an inexpensive subsitution. My next project, replace the front struts and rear shocks....

Drive it like you love it, it'll last longer that way.........Happy bricking.

Raised the brick by 1.25 "...stiff, yes ? Did you do shocks ? Corners better !!

I just put a set of (?? bought them at turbobrick.) very hard ( that's what hand written on them) shocks on my 89, 245. Very hard is an understatement. I've put up to 200 lbs. in the back and the rear never budged. At slow speeds I get a pogo stick effect...no notice at highway speeds.

I'm looking to put stiffer springs on all four corners....then I'll add my "very stiff" stuts.

Oh, next time you do your springs.....jack rear from under axel, put jack stands where jack points are on side, unbolt shocks (top or bottom), unbolt spring retainers (top & bottom), slowly lower axel.....springs will fall out for you. As always...replace by reversal.

Enjoy your new ride and handeling !!
