Check this one out. It even has tilt steering! I guess GL means Grande Lie. But at least the seller "takes full resposibility for the content of the listing and the item offered."

Dodgy write up excepted, the car looks and sounds a heck of a lot better than the average Volvo 240 on eBay in the UK...I speak from bitter experience with an eBay-bought 1988 240GL :(

It's a 1992. Actually, all of the numbers appear to reinforce what the seller is claiming, except for the eighth digit. It should be a 2, 4, or 5 (indicative of doors, so really should be a 4) but is instead a "0." That error in transcribing, of course, makes me question that everything else was done right, though really only the year model is something that might be deliberately changed.

I'd say this car is definitely a Bad Buy. I noticed the clock/tach thing too (claims to have a tach, but really only the giant dummy clock in the dash). The 1992 GL should have special alloy wheels. There's a little too much uncertainty here for my liking.

However, the 140/240 Model FAQ says that the 1992 240 GLs *did* have the '86-style grille, which I presume is one with the chrome trim like my 1989 GL. Also, it looks like there's a switch on the dash to heat the side mirrors, so that equipment is present.

This auction really puzzles me. Clearly deception is present, as the car obviously doesn't have a sunroof, which anyone can see. Also, none of the 240s had tilt steering, and this one doesn't have a tach, despite what the seller claims. The car, independent of the seller, should also have the alloy wheels and a few other attributes of GLs. It's definitely not worth buying from a seller like that.

Actually if you look closely on some of the pics you can see the outline of the sunroof in the pics. The third pic down, notice the black line towards the front of the roof, same with the eighth one too. Also the description states a center arm rest, I don't see that in any of the pics. And you were right, only the DL models of that year have black grills. And doesn't the trunk look like its out of alignment?

Eh, I guess you're right. Only in the side views does it look like, to me, that there's a sunroof. I can't find those lines in the other shots, and I missed them altogether in the first run-over of the seller's pictures.

Not that that fact changes anything. It certainly does look like the trunk is out of alignment. This car's a lemon (for how it's portrayed), and the seller is trying to rip someone off.

Based on my expericence this is not even a Gl. Is does not have the equipment. I belive that those are DL exclusive seats. Also there were not alloys on the car. It shoud coronas. I think the car was rearended and some just installed a trunklid of a GL.

don't forget the front grill is silver. 92's were black.

Hmmmm, is there a pattern here?

Way big Grand Lie, it's got "privacy glass" and tinted windows, both tach and clock yet no gauges in the accessory spots, and the tach seems to have 3, 6, 9 & 12 on it.
