Low , Mellow & ' Farty ' muffler 200 1982

As long as I have to replace the rear muffler on my IPD sport exhaust system, I was thinking of a "glasspack" muffler but I do not want an ear splitting painfull "straight pipe " sound. I want A low, mellow & "Farty" type muffler like on a Ferrari , My dimensions are 2 & 1/2" I.D. on one opening & 2 & 1/4" O.D. on the other.Glass pack should be 27" end to end with the width about 6 & 1/2".

Drove a 240 with a single glasspak at the rear - very drony and annoying. Sounded like an old truck.

Hello,

I wouldn't even look at a glasspack muffler. It will make your 240 sound like a fart rolling down the road. Replace it with another turbo muffler. OE Volvo runs about 100 bucks, an aftermarket one should be around 70.

I second that.

But I got my OEM Volvo "turbo" muffler from Voluparts in Atlanta about a year back and it was only $70. I guess it depends where you are in the US as to prices and shipping etc.

My '83 245T had a glasspack when i purchaced it.Got tired of the drone @ highway speed so i replaced the whole system(it needed it anyway)with a complete Starla kit. No cat. one turbo muffler runs great, less drone. One glasspack on an N/A car might be a bit louder than you're looking for but then you have the cat. right?, it muffels the sound somewhat. There's also the problem of hangers for the glasspack, there usually welded to the stock muffler-But if you're having it done pro that should'nt be a problem. Good luck,B.G.
