Headache relief! 240 won't start. Here's what I've tried.

A day or so ago my 240 wagon ('93) began cutting out while driving. Now it cranks but won't start. I've tried the following, but to no avail.

1. Changed the spark plugs.
2. Checked for spark.
3. Checked the fuses.
4. Checked the fuel pump relay.
5. Replaced the fuel regulator.
6. Tested to determine that fuel was flowing out the regulator.
7. Unplugged the Air Mass Meter and tried to start.

I'm pretty sure all this stuff is working, but the car as a whole ain't. Any suggestions. Thanks.

How about the crank position sensor?

I checked out the rank position sensor and the wiring appears to be exposed. This may well be the culprit. Any advice on how on how to handle this simple yet devilish-looking procedure?

Thanks.

Be careful taking off the 10mm fastener that holds the crank position sensor to the bellhousing. The bolt screws into an aluminum bracket and if the bracket breaks you are looking at pulling the engine or transmission out.
