'86 to '93 headlight mounts are the same! 200

I've been putting off replacing a partially damaged head light mount on my '87. The lower left area is smashed around the headlight adjuster. They're 60 bucks used! For a piece of plastic! I've been using a bungie cord to hold the left headlight and marker light in and it looks like hell. Anyways I'm messing around with it last night and I realize the right and left headlights use the exact same mount. The hardware all gets put in different places, but the plastic mount itself is the same right and left. So what? Well this is good news for me because the damaged areas on what is presently the left headlight mount are not used when it is converted for use on the right side. I searched the archives and couldn't find anything about this. I'm sure plenty of you are aware of this already, but maybe this info can save a few others some cash. By the way in case you didn't know, BMW motorcycles rule!

'86 to '93 headlight mounts are the same! 200

Yep, I discovered the same thing 3 years ago when I wrecked my 87. I broke the headlights, and the parts car I bought had a set that were not quite as broken as mine. I swapped the 2 best mounts fromk side to side, and then I figured out to repair the sockets on the mounts on the backs of the headlight housings.
