Wheel guide removal. Is it OK to do so? 200

I just purchased a set of Corona wheels for my 1991 240 from the pick and pull. When I took them in to have the tires mounted, I found that there are wheel guides on the wheel hubs and no matching hole on the Coronas. Can the wheel guides be removed without causing a problem or compromising the safety of the car?? I am anxious to get the Coronas put on for a better look.

You can cut the pins off, but make sure you leave the bolt there to hold the rotor in place. I have done this on multiple 240s. Basically, unscrew the bolt, cut off the pin leaving just the bolt, and screw back in.

The pin was used to orient the old style steel wheels for on car wheel balancing.

Or replace the pin/bolt with the same size and depth of regular bolt. I've done this before. I figured it would take less time to go to the hardware store than to hacksaw off four pins.
