Speedometer Head compatability 200

Anybody have any tips on this? Speedo head quits on 90 240 (no ABS) and I have instrument - speedo cluster from a 93 240 w/ABS. Can I swap this unit straight across without taking the speedo unit out of the box?

I think 92/93 are significantly different and not interchangeable at all with 86-91, which also have little mods along the series. I could be wrong but I remember reports of no speedo function using the 92/93 in an earlier car, or vice versa.
