I am about to purchase a new aftermarket water pump for my 240. Can anyone recommend which would be a better brand to use between the German made Hepu water pump and the Japanese made GMB water pump? Thanks alot.

I've heard a lot of good words about the Hepu. For the three 240's in our family, we all used Hepu with good luck. FCP has a good price on them. Get the extra seal kit in case you screw up one of the o-rings. The kit is inexpensive and nice to have on hand during the job, just in case.

I have a GMB on our 740 right now. It has worked fine for a couple years at least. But due to it having too thick of a casting, the timing belt cover didn't fit back where it should, causing it to rub the W/P pulley slightly. I had to shim the pulley out with a thin flat washer at each bolt.

I've haven't heard bad things about the Hepu.

As we say down here in the south, "Can I hepu?"

The HEPU wins easily in my opinion, yet the GMB on my engine right now has been fine.

I only have about 5k miles on my Hepu pump so far, but its been working just fine. I gave it a good visual inspection before having it installed. Lets put it this way, I've seen worse. Hepu is also an OEM supplier for VW/Audi.

Hepu looks a lot more like the old reliable 240 type than the flimsy GMB does, to my eye.
