update on no start 700 1991

Ok all im up dating on the overnight no start the next day thing, we cant think of what could be creating this no start so i ordered a new fuel pump relay in the hopes that this is what is causing the motor to turn but not fire. So now we wait but im having doubts now about wether this is whats causing it. Its been out of commssion for almost one month now, and im going crazy over this....do you think this is a good possiblity that it is infact the fuel pump relay? we have no money to have it checked out by a real mechanic at the momment, there charging 65 bucks just to see what wrong with it!! thats insane, when the kragen auto parts will just clamp this thing on there and do it for free. I dont know if thats the same thing but last time we broke down and pushed it there they brought out thing that looked like a small computer with wires comming out of the top clamped it to something under the hood and told us to try to start it. They knew what was wrong in 20 seconds. I wish i could be sure of what the proublem is....

Can you here the fuel pump run for a second or two when you first turn the ignition on? (Note: If you turn the key on repeatedly in short succession, you may not hear it run every time you turn it on, but you should hear it run the first time you turn it on after sitting for a while.)

Is there spark to the spark plugs?

If you answered "yes" to both of the above, the problem is VERY LIKELY the Radio Suppression Relay which should be found mounted to the front side of the coolant overflow bottle. If there are two identical relays there, the second one feeds the aux fan. If that's what you've got, try swithing the wires between the two relays and see if the car will start.

Have you gone through the FAQ's?? Are you experiencing a no start because of a fuel problem or a lack of spark?? The FAQ's are free and hold a wealth of information.

If no spark & no fuel pumps running, it could be the crank position sensor.
Your pumps won't run & you'll get no spark if this fails. Read the FAQs here on how to pull the codes from the OBD device on the driver side strut tower.

I did test for spark, its there. I checked the faq but could not find a proublem that similar to mine, plus i have no clue why its not running so i cant really identify with some of the things there only by what i hear and see from the car. for a while after the car was running we could still here the click, buzz sound when the key was in position II but we dont even hear that anymore,it just stopped doing iteven after it sat for a day or two. Now when you attempt start it trys to turn but seems like it coughes alittle every revolution. So now you get "crank cough crank cough" over and over..by the way could water in the gas tank cause any of that? it is belived that someone messed with the car a while back, and the next day it wouldnt start. There is no other proof of it being messed with though, nothing around the rim of the tank hole. Thats just a theory for why it may not be working, not for sure though.
I hope when that fuel relay comes it will help or fix the proublem.
