Air Mass Meter 700

Hello Everyone

I have a simple question will a air mass meter from a regular 740 work on a turbo 740? if not what are the differences. Thanks for any help.

Just want to point out before looking for a new AMM, cleaning the connector can sometimes correct a problem. It worked for me...

You need to match up the air mass meter part number. The last 3 digits are what's important. You'll either have a 007 (early cars, LH 2.2 injection) or a 016 (late cars, LH2.4 injection).

The turbos and non-turbos use the same one. BUT- most 89-up 740 NA cars have a Regina-Rex ignition and do not use an air mass meter. The coil is the giveaway if you're not sure how to tell. Regina cars have a big finned aluminum cube for a coil. Bosch cars have the normal cylindrical coil. The Reginas do not have an air mass meter. The thing in it's place is just a temp sensor.

Late 240's will have the 016 air mass meter however- they thankfully avoided the Regina system entirely.

Good luck!

I've got both an LH 2.4 and a Regina and I can't say it's "thankful" that regina wasn't in the 240s. Regina parts do cost more, unless you get them at the pick-n-pull like I do, in which case the price is the same. But I have found Regina to be less trouble largely because their is no AMM to go bad.

If you have to buy parts new, that AMM is more than any of the Regina parts (except the ECU where both kinds are out of sight).

I get better milage in my bigger, heavier 745 than in my 244 too.

Picky, picky but doesn't the '84 B23FT use the 002? Or am I not remembering correctly?

1985-1988 240, 740, 740 turbos all use the same air mass meter. the part # ends in 007
