Almost Powerless After Startup 200

OK. Car is a 1980 242 with K-jet B21F. Just in the last couple of days it has deveoped an annoying quirk. It fires right up, barely cranking once or twice over before it fires. Then, it lacks power on acceleration until the temp needle starts to move. Idle seems slow and a bit rough as well. Push the gas, slight acceleration, but it won't go over 2500 rpm or so. After it warms slightly, needle slightly in the green, all is fine and runs like a champ with plenty of pep. Any ideas and how to check potential faults/components ? I'm thinking a mixture problem, but look to those mor experienced than I for truth. Thanks.

Mike

Fuel control pressure regulator on a K-jet is a weak point, but that is a little more severe than a hard start and brief stumble. Still, it could be. D. Foster is an advocate of taking them out for disassembly and cleaning, but I never get that far because I have some like new ones i plug in.

Thanks. Something to check, although the CPR is rlatively new, replaced about 18 months ago or less. But, as we know, new doesn't necessarily mean perfect !

One other thing to check is your cat....when these become blocked, you lose power as well.

Cheers,
