Where in the @%&*# did the cannister vacuum Line go? (picture included) 200 1985

Guys

I posted about 3-4 days ago about me having problems with cold starts in my 85' 240. Today I opened the hood and I realized that one of the vacuum lines that go to the throttle body was missing. The Bentley manual says that the vacuum line comes from the charcoal canister, however I took a quick look in the engine compartment and I couldn't find the vacuum line. I remember I had used zip ties to hold it down in the past since it was popping out from times to times.

I had problems once or twice before when the vacuum lines in the intake/throttle boddy popped out before but this time the line completly dissapeared.

Where is it routed from? How long is this line and what size, in case I have to get a new one.

Thanks

Mike

I have the same problem in my 87 with that hose. I don't think it has any effect on preformance. I thought it might help a problem that I have when I found that it was disconnected but there was virtually no change when I reconnected the hose. I think that this hose goes to the cannister near the bottom of the air filter area. Hope it can help your problem

if thats the case, you should DEFINITELY clean your throttle body. if you didnt notice any difference when you reattached the hose, the nipple is plugged anyway with gunk. a hole that size would DEFINITELY affect how the engine runs. and of course if the hole is plugged, its not like the canister is doing anything anyway. try cleaning it and let us know what happens. good luck

its kinda hard to see but the canister is under the left front (driver side) fender, WAY up front by the intake snorkel. its kinda buried (on my year.) anyway, you should really plug the hole until you get a new hose. take a small length of hose and screw a bolt into it of greater diameter and slip the tiny hose on the nozzle. my tiny return line (right next to that one) broke at some point in the cars life and the nozzle was plugged when i bought it. took me forever to find the cannister too, because even bentley didnt mention the location if i recall correctly. good luck. just plugging it should restore your easy start.

not clear on what you're asking. The cannister is viewed under the left front fender, forward of the wheel/tire.

If the hose is on the cannister, trace to see where it got to.

If the hose is missing from the cannister, get some new hose and run it from the cannister to the TB.
