Unique 100K mile badge on eBay 200

I've never seen one of those before. Was this badge what Volvo gave out before developing the new style of badges, seen on this page?

I have one of those from my old `83 245. Interesting enough, they happen to be the exact size of the grill emblem on that car. I've never heard any offical word on where they were supposed to be placed.

After looking at the ebay ad and reading Bob's post I believe I may have a truly rare version cast in plastic!!

I think this was a second generation high mileage badge. The first ones were red and blue with the 100,000 miles across the front. The second was the one you found on ebay.I kind of remember there being a big protest against this badge as it was not very interesting. Then Volvo came out with their third generation high mile badge which is the one in your link.

Got a half dozen of them from salvage. Plastic? I have seen the heavy metal versions only.

I found one of these in the boneyard once. Fits almost perfectly in the steering wheel bolt access cover on my 84 (under the FCP airbag, he he) using an old distributor o-ring as a retainer. Made of cheap chromed plastic.
