Intermitent loss of directionals... 700

This is on my 1986 GLE.Has anyone ever experienced a on again, off again failure of the directionals?
At first I thought the flasher had died. then they started working normally later in the day.The next time it happened,I tried putting my 4 way flashers on.I was thinking that would tell me if it was the column switch or the flasher. They weren't working either.A few minutes later they are worked as normal. Is the flasher the culprit? And where is it located? Thanks to all.

It's the relay. Open it and check it for cracks in the solderjoints.

Sounds simple enough ! Where is the relay located? How will I indentify the right one?

When this happened on my 240, turned out to be bad contact on the pins of the relay. Pulled it, cleaned the pins, and was fine thereafter (until I sold it in June).
