240 armrest installation 200

Hi,

Could someone please describe me how exactly the center armrest is installed over the P-brake console. I believe I'm a few holes short :-) I believe the armrest is fixed by two screws on each side, yet I find only one hole per side!?

OR if someone could post some pics that would be great.

TIA,

Dietbrand

One large bolt on each side at the bottom, just below where the console ends, may be slightly hidden by console. Year helps, the later cars had their seatbelt anchor attached though these holes. The small holes in the armrest legs take long screws and go through the holes in the side of the console that currently have screws in them to hold the console.

      Ah yes
I believe that is it. The seatbelt anchor covers the hole (I have a 1992 brick).
Thank you for the help. Now the long drives will be just that tad more relaxed :-)

Could you post pictures after the installation please? I'd like to see what it looks like.

Also where did you buy it from?

        Thanks

          Hi,

I've been rather busy lately so I haven't yet been able to install it. I will try to post pics asap when I can install the armrest.

I've bought it from ebay. They turn up there frequently.

Depends on the year and armrest type, there are at least 3. The early ratcheting rests use a triangular bracket screwed to the drivers seat frame. Useless without the bracket.
The most common are the middle years fabric ones (some rare ones have cupholders) that bolt to the tranny tunnel and often have a secondary screw hole that goes into a bracket inside the e-brake cover shich also has the hole. Sounds like you might have this type without the side holes in the armrest or in the e-brake cover?
The newest armrests are harder vinyl with cupholder trays and install on the e-brake cover top, but inside the cover you install a big heavy duty bracket bolted to the tranny tunnel. These rests are useless without that big bracket.
