Smoking like a chain-smoker 700

I have an '86 740 Turbo.
It smokes like crazy, I think it's sucking oil from the Turbo, it's not the headgasket.

I want to run the engine without the Turbo connected. What I mean is, without the Turbo connected to the Intake. When I disconnect the pipe from the Intercooler the engine won't run.

How do I do it?

just unclip the wastegate rod from the exhaust manifold. it's below the turbo. crawl under the car and take a look. my 1990t is currently running this way.
