distributor woes 120-130

I was about to hook up my Bosch breakerless ignition distributor (from a 1975 240) when I read the earlier posts about advance v. retard distributors. Turns out these are retard distributors and I would rather stick with what my car came with. I will, however, convert to breakerless ignition probably with the Crane set-up from IPD. I'm a little concerned about the armored cable thing and I would like to replace the coil anyway (already have a new Bosch Blue Coil). My original distributor is a Bosch 028 which does not seem to be listed in the IPD catalogue (though I could discuss that with them directly)

Anyone have experience with this? Any words of wisdom?

Many thanks!

Not sure why you are concerned about the coil, and you CAN use the original
coil with the 75 distributor. You just have to find another switched hot wire
to run the module. And you don't have to run the vacuum retard. I have that
system in my 122 wagon and it works GREAT.

It's a fairly easy job. You can set timing after install using the tech advise from Sweedish Emabassy.com or VClassics.com.
The armored cable - there's only one wire in there (anti theft device?!?) so just hack away. But remember you have to use that wire so be sure to cut it so you can get to it. The armor is kinda tough. I used a grinder.
It's a nice upgrade once you get it set up right.

Kai;

If you've determined your distrubutors are the 'tard type, you can still use them...just dont hook up the vacuum! I consider the centifugal advance to be the important one...I dont run vacuum dists on any of my cars...

Cheers
