snow shields, fresh air. 200 1987

Do these shields increase fresh air flow?

    The downside -- they're noisy! 200 1987

Just noticed that you indicated an '87 -- that's different than the one for my cars that I had. So maybe it's different in your case, but ....

The thing I wanted to say was that, when I had them on my '80, '83 and '84, I didn't realize that they made the driving much noisier (these cars are noisy anyway, lacking the '86-on door insulation), until I took one off because one of the tabs broke. But as soon as I took it off, I realized that the wind noise level dropped appreciably.

One would think that by the form of the hoods and the fact that they are placed so that they're catching the airflow over the hood, they would provide more air to the vents.
And I would be surprised if it wasn't so, but just not enough to notice the increase. The air gets directed over the car's different (interior) vents so the increase would have to be quite high to be noticeable.

Nevertheless they are primarily intended to protect the vents from gunk/junk and that, as has been stated already, they do very well.
