On a '89 245 with fuel injection, where is the fuel filter located? The Haynes Manual is unclear and I couldn't find one be following the line, which I followed to the pump that is located under the rear seat.

    On the bottom of the car, in front of the driver's side rear wheel. (Have a pan ready, you'll spill lots of fuel.)

    If you found the pump, you found the fuel filter. Sometime around 85, the fuel filter was relocated next to the fuel pump. Not a fun or easy job to replace. You now have to lower the cage (housing) they sit in. The biggest problem is fighting the crud that likes to cling to the pump and filter fittings. I plan to relocate mine back to the firewall.

    Oh, consider getting the banjo connector between the pump and filter.....it usually gets damaged beyond use.

      My 83's is next to the fuel pump, just beside the driver's rear wheel, mounted on a bracket. I though that on later models they moved them up front and mounted them under the hood (against the firewall was my recollection from my previous 240).
