tailgate lock replacement? 700 1989

My tailgate lock is seized up. I think I can remove it. If I do, I'll clean it and try again. But if that doesn't work, I'll have to replace it. Will I have to buy a lock from Volvo ($$$$$) that is keyed to my car, or can I somehow buy a recycled lock and have it altered so that my key will work in it?

    depends on the key you have, if its the general key from the 80's which the 740's had in 89 then take the lock to a locksmith and have it rekeyed to fit your key, if its the locks like the 760's had in 89 the laser keys youll have to get it from volvo
