For the last couple of days my brick doesn't turn off when I turn it off (if that makes sense). Not dieseling, just stays on. It's a manual so I stall it with the handbrake on. Anyone seen this?

Slight chance it is the degraded wire harness, be careful of that possibility as it can get deangerous fast. My '85 turbo had the same tendency with the bad harness, running on with the key off a couple of times.

That was my experience ('81 245). I haven't been able to replace the wiring harness yet, but coated the (bare!) wires around the starter with silicone as a temporary fix. In my case the starter wouldn't disengage, but other times the engine would just die. So shorts can cause a variety of problems!

Sounds like your ignition switch is bad. Happened to me before, went to pick & pull, paid $5 for the used switch, never had that problem again.
