88 760 Climate Control not working 700

Hi,

I have an 88 760 Turbo that has a problem with the climate control system. All of a sudden it seems the entire system has stopped working. If I move the temperature selector dial all the way to hot or cool and turn the fan on high nothing happens. I thought that either of these settings would bypass the automatic settings. I have checked the fuses which are OK.

I was hoping for some ideas of where to start looking for the problem.

Cheers,
Richard

Sometimes the circuit board in the climate control unit develops microscopic cracks in the solder joints, affecting the function of the A/C system controls. These can be re-soldered to repair the problem.

Check out the faq section on the A/C units for information and pictures.

Good Luck with the problem.

Robert

Hi Robert,

I had that problem last year, but this seems different. Last time the problem with the circuit board occurred the A/C light was flashing to indicate an error with the ECC. This time the light is not flashing at all. Before the fan would also still work if I set the temp. control to max. heat or cooling. Now the fan does not work at all, but I don't think the fan has failed. I am not sure where to even start looking this time.

Thanks,
Richard

Richard,

There is a wealth of information on the operation and troubleshooting procedures for heaters and a/c units on the faq that may be helpful for you. I noticed a link here for "blower motor runs only on high" that points to a failed resister pack.

If you're going to troubleshoot this problem yourself, compare your symptoms with entries here to see if it points you in the right direction. Of course, you can post additional questions here and someone knowledgeable in that area will respond with help.

This board has been great for me in troubleshooting and repairing problems with my Volvos.

Good luck, and let us know what you find.

Robert
