740 door windows misaligned 700 1990

I've got a nag with the alignment of the driver and passenger windows in my 740--they don't ride snug in the trailing edge tracks, and the gap lets in minor spray, but mostly wind noise. I've taken the panels off (all clips intact! yes!) and poked around, but I can't find any sort of adjustment.

If the front edge of the window was held up about 1/4", I think that would fix it. Do I have any options before gritting my teeth and bending the braces? That doesn't sound like a sound plan anyway--what bends, bends back.

Nick

My 90 760 turbo has the same problem. There's no adjustment- on mine , the scissors mechanism wore out at the pivot point. One of the arms has a swaged joint, and over time becomes loose. It doesn't take much slop in this joint to lead to sagging and wind noise. On mine the noise is right at my ear. If you consider a used scissors, check very carefully for play in the joint. Probably better to go with a new unit.

The joint can be fixed with a little ingenuity and a suitable screw and washers instead of the swaged joint which you grind away. Just make sure you lock the screw/nut when you are done adjusting it a little snug to get any play out. Lock Tite is good.
