Panhard Rod Bushings -- Silly Question 200

I'd never do this with trailing arms or torque rods, but is it possible to remove the panhard rod and, with the rod removed, drive the car to the shop to get the new bushings pressed in? I suppose that I could remove them at the shop as the job isn't that big of a deal, but if I could reinstall the rod without a problem, I'd like to do it at home.

Panhard Rod Bushings -- Silly Question 200

heck, I had a friend drive his 240 with completely rotted and disconnected panhard rod for about 4 months before he realized what was broken... he said it felt like the rear end was wandering all the hell over the place.

probably not a good idea, but ya gots to do what ya gots to do.

Mike

Panhard Rod Bushings -- Silly Question 200

DON'T drive the car without a panhard rod! IT IS NOT SAFE!

If you don't have another vehicle then get a friend to help you bring the parts to the shop. And please don't think about driving a car with missing suspension components again.

I guess I should also tighten those lugnuts.

Nah, I don't consider wheels part of the suspension ;)

Panhard Rod Bushings -- Silly Question 200

You might check out buying the adjustable panhard rod from IPD...could be cheaper than getting new bushings pressed on.

Panhard Rod Bushings -- Silly Question 200

I was thinking the same thing. Why even bother pressing out panhard bushings with the IPD adjustable and poly bushings. Now they also have the adjustable torque rods so no need to press them out either. Many torque rods also suffer from fatigue and corrosion.
