No flats on Tie Rod — Koyo Rack 900 1993

I want to adjust the Toe-in a bit, but can't turn one tie rod. The lock nut is free, but the rod itself is frozen in the TR end.

I got one side OK using vice-grips, and will get a pipe wrench on this stuck one, unless I get some better ideas here.

I've always used the pipe wrench with pretty god success.
I did have one factory rod end on a 88 245 that the nut simply WOULD NOT turn on the rod. Not to discourage you in your present project, of course. I ended up grinding the nut off... ugly.

Dear Bruce,

Good p.m. and may this find you well. Some PB Blaster, on the frozen threads, might help, especially if you tap lightly and apply a little heat (from a hair dryer).

Would it not be wonderful, if some anti-seize had been applied to the threads, at the factory? ....

Yours faithfully,

spook

Thanks spook, I have some Kroil soaking now. Not that I favor it over PB Blaster, it was just handy. I always use anti-sieze or marine grease on something like this—assuming I'll be the one to take it off again. Or boost my Karma, if not.
