I found the top nut had not been screwed down far enough. I took it to the local Volvo shop to tighten it. Estimate $71. Ended up buying three washers and putting the nut back on myself. Two year clunk is gone.

      Of course there's always the standard rejoinder: "Thats $1 for turning the nut, $30 for knowing which nut to turn, and $40 for knowing how tight to tighten it"!

        So I wonder what tool do the dealers use to put on the strut nut?
