What is crank bolt torque with direct reading (not torque + 60 degrees) 700

I have a torque wrench that will handle the bolt torque but I can't find the value except as set + 60 degrees. For me, it will be easier to set the torque directly if I can find the value. TIA. Steve

200 ft-lbs + will be more than sufficient. You got something to lock the crank I assume? I've done a few side-of-the-road jobs with less than optimal torquing conditions, and never ever had one loosen up.

What is crank bolt torque with direct reading (not torque + 60 degrees) 700

Rob,

Given your experience as a Volvo tech, I'm sure you're familiar with the "rope trick" (stuff a length of rope down a spark plug hole to prevent the piston from moving) to provide counter-torque when tightening the crank bolt. Have you ever heard of this causing any damage in the process (e.g., bent valves, hole in piston), or is it a safe thing to do?

Thanks,
Robert
