bad motor mounts cause clutch slippage ? 200 1982

Took car to Volvo due to car acting up (engine surge / clutch slippage not sure ) Theycharged $100 or so to tell me the car needed new motor mounts in front (only 3 years old) & new tank pump. Would bad mounts affect clutch ? Btw the Dealer wanted $347 for the front mounts & $348 for the tank pump. Screw that ! Just ordered new mounts F&R & 700 pre-pump kit from IPD $ 160 or so with shipping. I did these jobs myself before & I have the bung nut tool .

I wonder what sort of delusional thought process was involved in that math. $700! He is getting what he deserves from you after all.

I was referring to the Volvo 700 series tank pump. $347 + $348 = $695

That is still a LOT. I'd think $200 should be PLENTY for a pump that only
puts up 5 psi (and you can usually get by without!)

The 1983 244 I bought last year had bad motor mounts, and the clutch worked great. The 240 series uses a cable actuated clutch, and engine movement doesn't effect the clutch actuation. Motor mounts are about $5 each from FCP Groton, and it took me about an hour to change both. The right side mount is more difficult to change. Even from the dealer, $347 is pretty steep.
