240 uneven brake wear 200 1986

my front brakes are wearing unevenly. one side is wearing down more than twice as fast as the other. i believe it's probably a problem with one or both of my front calipers. Is this the likely source of the problem? if so how do i figure out which caliper is the problem?

thanks

Yes the calipers sticking could cause this. The side that wears out quickest is the side with the sticking problem.A few more things I would like to know are (1) lets say its the right side, are both inboard and outboard pads wearing at the same rate? (2)Do the brakes pull when you come to a stop? (3) is one of the rotors a different color than the other, normal wearing rotors, the rotors will have a bright, shiny polished metal look.Overheated rotors will be dark blue almost like case hardning. Dont just rush out and buy new calipers cause this can also be caused by a flex hose that will not release brake pressure to the dust build up that causes the pads to stick closer to the rotors when you release the brake pedal.I absolutly recommend that what ever you find wrong that you use only OEM parts to repair brakes.Your life is worth more than you would save by using aftermarket and although Volvo pads dont last as long as some harder compound aftermarket pads, they do stop better than any aftermarket I have ever driven

thanks for the responding.
both of the rotors look the same as far as the color goes. the pads are wearing down at the same rate on each side; that is to say that both pads on the left (bad) side are wearing down equally fast, a whole lot faster than the right side. do you still think the problem would be the caliper on the bad side?
i was planning on changing the brakes and rotors when i discovered this problem. didn't want to change them until i knew what was wrong since the problem would just continue. i'm planning on using volvo pads & vented beembo rotors. any recommendations on calipers?
