I have owned this car since about July of this year and it has been great. But some friends and I were camping the other night and because I had the best sound system, my car was used as the stereo. As expected, the car was dead by morning so we jumped it. When the radio wouldn't turn on, one of my friends started punching in numbers, not realizing that after 3 unsuccessful attempts at the code, the radio would be inoperable for 2 hours. I thought, ok, I'll just put in the correct in a few hours. The only problem is, that was on Sunday morning and as I am writing this on Tuesday afternoon, it still won't work. All it does is display OFF when I turn it on. Is there a way to reset this? I've already taken out the main fuse and drove the car, that didn't do anything. Then I took out the radio specific fuse next to the door, still nothing after that was replaced. Finally, I just took the radio out, disconnected it and all, and even after I replaced it, it still won't let me put in my code. Is there anything I can do short of buying a new radio?

You have to leave the key in the on position for two hours, just the first position, when all the lights come on across the dash. After two hours it will once again say CODE. Then you can put the code in. Make sure you have the correct code. The radio may have been replaced which means you'll have a different code than the original one that you can get off of your vin number. You can verify the code by calling the dealer with all of the info off of your radio. Hope this helps,

My code is 4115, or so says my little card. However, I don't see that number anywhere in my VIN number. Does this automatically mean that my code is wrong and that the radio has indeed been replaced?

4115 definately didn't work. I bought the car off of a Ford dealer's used car lot. I don't know who the original dealer is. Now what?

Did you have the ignition switch on for two hours before trying the code? I would guess if anyone swapped out the radio the card should have been changed at that time or at the least the card corrected. Did the radio display the word "code" before entering 4115?

Yeah, it was on for a little over two hours and it said "code" finally. I tried 4115 twice, not wanting to leave my car on for another two hours. There are two cards in my owners stuff they both say that my radio code is 4115. Any other ideas?

Some cars, and I'm not certain if yours is this way since it seems to follow no rhyme or reason, you have to hit the little aut button on the right after you enter the code. However, don't do that just yet since you only have one opportunity to get it right now.

Okay, pull your radio out far enough to read the serial number and such. You will need:

The radio type on the front of the radio: SC-810? SC-815?
The part number, under the word Volvo, starts with 35: 3533317?
The serial number, starts with a B usually: B20921328A (just an example)
The vin number: YV1...

Since you don't have a relationship with a Volvo dealer as yet, you will have to provide proof that the car is yours...yadda yadda yadda...so to avoid that just give me the information, and I'll phone Volvo for you and verify the code.

He's right after the radio reads code you give it the # then you must hit the auto button on the right for the radio to accept the code.

Finally! I called the volvo dealer, gave him all the info, faxed him my title, and he got me the right code in about 20 minutes
