960 Heating Malfunction 900 1993

Hi, on my 1993 960 wagon, the A/C light flashes after about 15 minutes of driving or idling and the heat cuts out and blows cool air. Temperature gauge reads okay. I had an overheating problem this summer and my mechnaic replaced the thermostat, the relay(?) and then, finally the radiator. Ideas? Thanks.

Dear Mr. Lee,

May this find you well. This problem is almost certainly inside the climate control unit, mounted in the front center console, above the radio.

The soldered connections between the relay and/or the main electrical connector have failed. They can be restored, if you are handy with a soldering iron.

The soldering process will take about 10 minutes (at most). Removing and replacing the unit will take an hour. If you want to do this, let me know, and I'll post a detailed procedure. You can find that procedure among my posts in the past couple of months.

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

spook
