I recently installed an aftermarket cd player into my 88 740. Now the power antenna won't go up and I can only get about 2 and a half stations on the radio. Anyone had this problem before?? Thanks,

i had this happen with a JVC unit one time which has the ant wire, i gave up with it and just hooked the ant wire into the radio hot so when the car was turned on the ant went up, DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU HAVE A WAGON!!! if you do you will regreat the day you drive into a parking structure, ive been very lucky remembering to pusht he down button on my dash but there have been some pretty close call's.

The wire from the radio may not be going hot when the radio is turned on.

Disconnect the antenna wire there, and touch it to a hot location elsewhere. If the key is on, the antenna should go up. That would mean the radio is not powering the wire. Look for another radio wire that does what you want.

did you tap the signal wire from your new head unit into the Fcatory harness...or you could do it at the dash switch.

I connected to the antenna wire in the factory harness but nothign happened.

You sure the antenna dash switch is on ? I once did trouble shoot my antenna for 1/2 hour until I discovered the dash switch was in the down position.
