Size for Crank Sensor Screw? 700 1990

Hi,

While removing the crank sensor from my car yesterday I stupidly dropped the screw (or bolt?) which fastens it to the bell housing. Needless to say I can't find it and the car is sitting on grass.

Does anyone happen to know what size this is? I'm hoping to get a replacement from a hardware store as none of the local yards have a late enough car to pick one up and the dealer is clueless. All I know is it had a 10mm head and was fairly narrow.

Thanks

You need to give the volvo dealer a hard time. I'm sure the advice here will be enough but really there is no reason the dealer shouldn't be able to work this out. Lot's of the time it's just the parts person being lazy/ignorant. You can still buy parts for a 1965 Volvo at any dealership but find me a parts guy who knows this. A little encouragement can work wonders in the long term, I had a parts guy who eneded up enjoying the challenge of seeing me coming. Btw I always put a tarp/plastic/plywood down when I,m working over grass or dirt, I learnt the hard way, as you now have. I'm just full of advice this morning, I guess that means it's time to go to work.

Make sure it didnt make its way back into the bell housing, it would be a terrible thing if it did and one day managed to get knocked around by the tq converter, its easy to check all you have to do is revmove the plastic access vent's/panals from the bottom of the bell housing and stick your finger around the bottom if you dont feel it it probly did fall to the ground,

*usually* (but not 100%) of the fasteners you'll find on a Volvo that have 10mm heads are M6 x 1.0. I'd guess 95+%.

As for the length, it's a guess. Maybe when you look at the M6 x 1.0 bolts at the hardware store, something will look obvious. If not, just buy a few sizes that look close. Probably spend a buck on 4-5 bolts.

How about using a good magnet to search the grass. It can't be to far away
