transmission jumping out of overdrive 700

my 1990 740GL with auto trans jumps out of 4th gear at highway speeds.The overdrive button on the shift lever works. If I click the over drive off then on and decelerate, it shifts back into 4th gear and then shfts back into 3rd.Is this a simple repair? Should I just get another tRans? I replaced the overdrive solenoid but the trans still does the same thing. HELP PLEASE!

Replace the relay or check it's connection into the fuse box- try pushing on it while driving and see if it will behave itself.

The OD relay is the tall skinny one in the right front corner of the fusebox. With the ashtray out, you can press on it while driving. They often need to be replaced or re-soldered internally.

have replaced the relay as well as the solenoid;changed the fluid and filter. The trans still does the same thing
