Should I buy this 83 245?

I have the chance to buy an 83 245 cheap, and was wondering if it would be worth making it run and reselling or posibly keeping. Was this an okay year. Have not looked under the hood yet. Body seems great, just dirty. Sounds like the guy wants to get rid of it soon, so it would be persumably cheap, but not sure about why it "stopped running" Possibly the wire harness or? Thanks and happy bricking. I have seen the car in the same location for at least a year on my way to school. Would this deem breaks and all componets to replacement or?
Thanks and happy bricking.

We have 2 83's, including a 245 with over 260K miles. Agree with the other 'boarders, watch out for the rust (esp driver's side rear floor). Wiring harness was also bad (head temp sensor and at firewall). That said, it has been a trooper--have driven it all over the country since we bought it in 86. The four-light front has definite advantages when it comes to lighting (in our case, 2 Marchal H4 Hi/Lo and 2 Marchal H2 Hi--unbelieveable improvement!)

Hope this helps,

Steve A-

Presuming that you check the usual suspects; ie rust, and rust, etc., the wiring harness is the next obvious weakness.

The 83 - 85's have a few differences in styling that I personally like. However to a non-Volvoholic it's a 21 year old car. Ask the seller how much he'll pay you to take it away.
