Volvo brake pads, really this dusty? 200 1989

I had all of my brake pads and rotors replaced last month, using Volvo pads and Zimmerman rotors all around. I've noticed that I'm getting a fair amount of brake dust on all the hubcaps, more in the front than the rear. I've never had this much dust before even when I used Volvo pads. My old front Volvo pads were 3 years old and the old rears were only 1.5 years.

Can I somehow attribute this dust to the new rotors? Will it eventually stop, or can I just expect to clean my wheels every weekend? I'm just kind of baffled.

volvo pads are dusty. Period. I switched to Napa brand Metal pads and they work better with WAY less dust.

It is not only common, but expected to get more dust in the front wheels for two reasons - 80% of the braking occurs with the front brakes, and due to this fact the front brakes are bigger than their rear counterparts.

Volvo pads (and Roulunds - same thing) are quite dusty. They are quiet and stop well, however.

I'll second that opinion. The official Volvo pads make a LOT of dust, last a decent amount of time, and STOP the car better than anything else on the market. Volvo did some very extensive laboratory and endurance testing/benchmarking before approving the pads for use on their vehicles. -as in the brake rotors were glowing red hot, the pad material had flames coming off it, and it still stopped the car in a reasonable distance. (just in case you need to suddenly stop while towing a semi-trailer and traversing a ski slope in your wagon)

      God bless,
