get out your sheet metal screws and drill kit. the idea is to drill holes only in the heat shield - not the down pipe. then tighten the screws through the shield and against the pipe - sort of like mounting a christmas tree in the stand.

it could most likely be tightened or altered so that it wouldnt rattle. I would try that before removing it.

ARE THERE ANY SCREWS OR BOLTS THAT HOLD IT ON OR IS IT WELDED . DO YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO TIGHTEN IT ?

It's tack-welded and those are what break. They welded dissimilar metals together at the factory, and it worked up to a point.

It's welded. You can try tightening with clamps etc. or stuffing tacks or something down inside.

IMHO - Remove it patiently and carefully! Use chisel, hammer etc. and slowly work it off.

I took the heavy-handed approach last year removing mine and ripped 2 small holes in the pipe. So if you choose this method be very CAREFUL!
