New intake manifold gasket? 900

Hi all, I got my intake manifold gasket today and it is green (same as the one on my car). Were the original bad gaskets red? I was told this by the mechanic at the Volvo shop. Is it possible mine was changed already? What do y'all think the chances of me retorquing the gasket would make it seal? Thanks, Paul

New intake manifold gasket? 900

Dear Progun,

Good p.m. and hope this finds you well. On the 940s, the original intake manifold gaskets were a slightly orangey red. The newer ones are pale green. If the manifold nuts are properly torqued, re-torquing will not change anything. If they're not properly torqued, bringing them into spec might help. Usually, though, when a manifold is removed, it is a good idea to replace the gasket.

Yours faithfully,

spook
