Caliper Loose, Pin Sloppy? 700 1986

Hi All,

Making my way through a list of problems, now the Bendix rebuilt drivers front caliper seems loose on the upper guide pin? I can move it slightly by hand. Is it possible that the caliper sleeve is now too big/sloppy after the rebuild, or that I am missing some required part to make the pin and sleeve tight and true?

This is making quite a rattle at speed and needs to sit again until this is sorted out.

I saw some FAQ info on Girling brakes and a Volvo TSB, but this did not seem to apply to my Bendix car.

Thanks,

Greg

Most likely the hole in the bracket caliper is worn. If it's just clacking a bit, I would not get too excited, but if it's hanging up and causing the steering wheel to oscillate during braking, it's time for new ones. I just put Volvo rebuilts on my 940, each bracket from the dealer was like 30 bucks. Even the rebuilts will have some slop, but they were better than my old ones as the oscillation has stopped.

Mike

Hi Mike, I'll have a look at the brackets next.

Thanks,

Greg
