dashboard defroster vents 900

afternoon,

the vents at the end of the dash (defoggers/defroster) have been annoying me with a plastic to plastic rubbing/cracking sound.

has anyone had similar probs? any possible solutions, I tried messing around with the vents but was worried i might break them. is there any sort of spray for something as specific as this?

its a 96 964, but i remember my dads 764 had the same problem.

p.s. if it helps, i narrowed the sound down to the very right hand of the vents
